We currently offer EASSON Lathe packages in both 2 and 3 axis kits. Both include everything you need - a display head, mounting arm, power cord, detailed installation manual, a super detailed 70 page operators manual, standard length scales of your choice, shields, mounting hardware, brackets, etc. Kit prices includes scale sizes up to 800mm at no extra charge. Unfortunately, beyond 800mm, the price of the scales increases dramatically, therefore for any scales ordered above 800mm there is a small surcharge. In either case, call or email us with your scale requirements and we'll send you the correct size scales.

 

At first glance, it may appear that our 2 and 3 axis Lathe displays are the same. The difference is that the 3 axis display accepts input from three scales, whereby the two axis display only accepts input from two scales. Let's start with a quick review:

 

The two primary axis of a lathe are the X and Z axis. The X axis measures the 'cross slide' or the in and out movement of the lathe. The Z axis measures the 'carriage' or the side to side movement of the lathe. Most lathe operations may only need these two axis. For cutting cones or tapers, both the ES10-2L5 and the ES10-3L5 are equipped with a conical function. What sets the 3 axis lathe apart from the 2 axis is an input for a third, or Y axis. The third scale is attached to the 'compound' or top slide. The third scale simply measures the compound movement just as any of the other scales do. The difference is that the compound scale movement is added or subtracted to the 'carriage' movement. This combined value is then displayed on the Z axis display.
